Beautiful and impregnable, the marine protected areas in Italy they are an invaluable heritage to be defended in which, however, underwater fishing cannot be practiced. In Italy there are about twenty-nine marine protected areas, in addition to two submerged parks for a total of 228 hectares of sea and 700 kilometers of wonderful coastline.

Each zone is divided into areas with various degrees of protection. We are talking about marine environments with clear waters, seabed rich in life and stretches of coast which host protected marine flora and fauna of ecological, scientific, cultural and economic importance. Among the most interesting studies we can mention the one carried out by the researchers of the Ocean-Climate Platform of the Stockholm Resilience Center of the University of Stockholm which demonstrates the importance of marine protected areas, also underlining the impact of this choice on the quality and quantity of the fish and the preservation of biodiversity.
